Buy Local North Central Florida (Partnership with Blue Oven Kitchens)

The Buy Local North Central Florida program is designed to promote our local economy and support local businesses.Dollars spent at local and independently-owned businesses create a "multiplier effect" in the local economy, meaning that they re-circulate within our community to support small-scale livelihoods and what is unique about North Central Florida. Check out our website, spread the word, and support our local independent businesses.

Farm to Restaurant Workshop and Culinary Fair (Partnership with Blue Oven Kitchens)

The Farm-to-Restaurant Workshop & Culinary Fair is an annual workshop for farmers, restaurateurs, caterers, institutional foodservice operators, distributors, and others who work with these groups. The program goal is to bring more local food from our North Central Florida farms into our regional foodservice system.  It accomplishes this through educational and skill-building sessions, an opportunity for networking, highlighting other parties’ perspectives and modi operandi, and activities pairing farmers with restaurants.

The inaugural Workshop—held on July 19, 2010—was a huge success, with over 65 people attending from these groups throughout North Central Florida and beyond.  This years will be held on August 1, and will

offer information & workshops on topics Including:

Marketing & Branding, Liability & Legal Issues, Business & Financial Planning, Food Safety, Health & Nutrition, Distribution Standards, Seasonality, Etc... For more information or to register, email val@blueovenkitchens.org.

Grow Gainesville (Community Partnership)

Grow Gainesville: The Urban Garden Network

Grow Gainesville which is hosted on Facebook and on Gainesville Farm Fresh, aims to maximize the food production and security by networking our numerous community gardening resources into ONE location! There are many ways for involvement from helping out in various gardens, helping with the website, newsletters and events planning. Consider becoming a Friend of Grow Gainesville for as little as $5-10 a year. This helps support the ongoing efforts of the network and will give you access to high quality, locally appropriate seeds for spring and fall garden seasons. Check out the Facebook page, send an email to growgainesville@gmail.com, and check out www.growgainesville.com where you can sign up for email updates!
